Today, on Christmas Eve, you are three months old! What a special gift you have been to us, and we are even more aware of how lucky we truly are during this holiday season.
Here are some of the things that happened during your third month!
Growth:
-You weigh about 15 and 1/2 pounds and are 25.5 inches long--growing so big so fast!!
-A few weeks ago, we had to move you up into size 3 diapers. You were in a size of diapers that was a number bigger than the number of months you'd been alive! Big girl!
-Your hair has really started to fuzz up on top, and it is very dark like Mommy's. Your eyes are still a deep blue color, and they are gorgeous.
-Finally your little sensitive skin problem is starting to die down, and your little baby acne is a thing of the past. You have the softest, prettiest skin, and there is just a glow about you, sweet girl.
-You are wearing mostly 6-9 month clothing.
Eating:
-You are nursing every two or three hours during the day, and you nurse once or twice at night. That second feeding at night is starting to fade away slowly but surely.
-Baby, you are a speed eater! You are nursing usually just one side and for only about 5 minutes. You like to snuggle and talk to me after you are done nursing though, so at least we get to have that extended bonding time each feeding.
-Oh goodness, you HATE being offered a bottle! Hate it! You will scream and scream and scream until you just fall asleep instead of eating! You must have been talking to your big sister about this.... ;) We have tried every bottle and trick under the sun, but nothing seems to be to your liking. We'll keep trying, Baby!
Sleeping:
-During the day, you will nurse, play for about 30-45 minutes, and then you take a nap for about 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
-You take your daytime naps in your crib, and you seem to like it in there. We swaddle you up, rock for just a few minutes until your eyelids start to droop, and then you finish falling asleep in your crib. Sometimes you suck on your paci, and other times, you work out one of your little fists and suck until you fall asleep.
-For your evening nap, I like to snuggle you up on the couch while Daddy and I watch TV and relax. I know you'll soon need to be put in your room for bed at a certain time each night, but for now I'm soaking up all of our snuggles.
-At night, you start out in our room in the porta-crib. After your first (and sometimes only) feeding, Daddy takes you back to your crib to finish the night.
-You'll sometimes nap in your car seat if we are out and about, but that is getting harder for you as you become more aware of the world around you. We can definitely tell that you prefer to be in your own bed for naps, but you will still sleep if we are at a friend's house or running errands.
Play:
-You have starting "talking" so much more this month, and we LOVE IT! You "chat" every once and awhile, and your smiles are just precious. I can't get enough!
-One of your favorite sources of entertainment is your big sister. You will follow her with your eyes, smile when she looks at you, and you giggle when she comes over to snuggle you. I can't wait to see you two actually play together soon!
-You like to sit in your bouncy seat, and you are getting better and better about sitting up in the Bumbo chair, too. Tummy time is helping your little neck get even stronger, and you really like to hold your head up and bob it around when you are being held or carried around.
-This month, you found your hands! You'll watch them wave and bob around your face, and you seem quite pleased when you can navigate them straight to your mouth. So cute!
-Oh sweet baby, you have started to LAUGH! It is a low belly laugh right now, and Mommy can really get you going when I tickle you with my hair or nuzzle your neck. It is the sweetest sound of all!
Activities/Events:
-You had your first Thanksgiving this month! We celebrated with Daddy's family, and it was so much fun to have you with us during the start of the holiday season. We are all SO thankful for you, sweet baby. You have no idea.
-We put up Christmas decorations this month, and you are captivated with our Christmas tree! You love to be laid next to the tree on your floor gym, and you'll just stare and smile at the twinkly lights. So precious.
-You had your first round of shots this month, Baby D, and you were not happy about it. Neither was Mommy. It was so hard to watch you cry, but we got you all snuggled up and happy right away!
-We celebrated an early Christmas with Daddy's family, and you received your first round of Christmas presents! You had no clue what was going on, but just know that you are loved and treasured by your family, my dear. We love you!
Darling girl, I love you so very much, and each month that you are in our lives is a precious gift. You are growing so fast, my love, and I just want to soak up each minute that I can. We love you so.
