It seems that I blinked, and it is now 100+ degrees outside. This happens every year...I take for granted the gloriousness of Spring weather! And then, when it is gone, I bemoan my sweaty pits and my blazing hot car. Sigh. Catch you next year, Spring.
Anywho, our little household has taken to playing outside in the morning hours in order to run/crawl off some energy before naps. However, it is the post-nap-pre-dinner spanse of time that has become a barren wasteland of boredom for my toddler (and, thusly, my baby). In the name of full disclosure, I'm here to tell you that we may or may not watch Tangled at least three times a week, but I always feel like a C- Mom while the TV is on. Eh. Give and take, right?
SO! I decided to hit the refresh button on my crafting ideas, and, of course, Pinterest did not let me down. I found quite a few crafts, projects, and play things on that glorious website, and they were all pretty cheap, too.
One recent post-nap-pre-dinner craft: a balloon curtain! Here are the supplies we used:
Scissors
Heavy masking tape
Gift-wrapping ribbon
Green and pink balloons
After blowing up about ten balloons (and then coming this close to passing out on the floor of Emery's room...geesh!), I tied long lengths of the ribbon to each balloon and taped them up in a walkway by the girls' rooms. EASY.
The girls were in awe of my balloon blowing/hanging skills, and they both wiggled with excitement as each balloon was strung up.
These pictures don't capture the squeals and laughter heard as Emery raced through the balloon curtain and bonked her face agains the balloons on purpose! Delia giggled and batted at the lower balloons purposefully hung within her reach.
This craft took all of about 10 minutes to complete, and they were over there playing with the balloon curtain for about an hour. Thusly, hooray. Pinterest success.
Yay for indoor crafty fun!
:)
PS: Here is the link for the original balloon curtain post I'd seen on Pinterest.
PPS: I'd be sure and double-tape the balloon strings. A few have already popped off from the ceiling after a couple enthusiastic 'bonks'...! ;)
PPPS: After a few days of balloon bopping, the curtain is now more of a tetherball of balloons...and it's even more awesome! Apparently. ;)

Cute idea! My girls would LOVE this.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, what did we do before Pinterest? It's sad when it's too hot to even play in the water outside- I'm hoping the whole summer isn't like this!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! May have to copy you when emery comes to visit!
